Vision Zero is a movement that started in Sweden in the 1990s. It calls for eliminating all traffic accidents and severe injuries, while also increasing safe, equitable and healthy mobility for all people. After taking hold in many European cities, it now is taking off in the United States.

During the height of the pandemic in 2020, the number of road traffic fatalities increased over 7% in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has now reported that, compared to 2020, 1st quarter 2021 fatalities, increased another 10%! NHTSA is now projecting over 40,000 fatalities this year. These sobering statistics have led fleet and safety professionals to renew their efforts in finding ways to better train drivers and reduce driving fatalities.
