For fleets that want to train drivers in the best practices for avoiding crashes and maintaining vehicle control, DriveReady Advantage from Driving Dynamics offers them a smart, convenient way to learn critical safe driving abilities.
DriveReady Advantage features virtual, instructor-led classes as well as behind-the-wheel training. Driving Dynamics also offers a unique, industry-first contactless fleet driver training process that allows them to safely complete training safely with an instructor.
The program focuses on advanced performance core concept training that has proven effective for three decades for lowering the chances of crashes and collisions.
Two Phases of DriveReady Advantage
Fleet drivers receive training in two phases. Classroom training, also offered as a standalone service, involves online, real-time interactive courses in which drivers work with expert instructors. Behind-the-wheel training involves applying what they’ve learned on a driving course.
Classroom Training Sessions
In the DriveReady Advantage classroom portion, students connect with road safety training professionals via the internet for live, interactive sessions that teach students the “why” and “how” of advanced performance driving techniques.
These instructor-led courses teach students in a variety of areas, including the following.
- Situational awareness
- Defensive positioning techniques
- Hazard perception using the SEE approach (search, evaluate and execute)
- Recognizing and controlling the triggers for high-risk behavior
- An in-depth understanding of the uses and limitations of advance driver assistance systems
The classes last between two and a half and three hours, with a short break. Driving Dynamics makes the courses available through a multi-employer, open enrollment format. Fleets also can set up a class specifically for their employees.
Behind-the-Wheel Training
Drivers can enroll in the behind-the-wheel segment of DriveReady when they are ready to do so. That part of the training allows drivers to put what they have learned to use on a driving course.
Driving Dynamics now offers contactless fleet driver training that gives drivers all the guidance they need without a trainer in the vehicle. For example, a trainer will stand outside of the vehicle at the training site, instructing the driver on what to do while on the course via their vehicle’s radio and offering a personalized assessment through the passenger side window. Each student completes the exercises in their own vehicle.
By practicing these techniques, drivers develop more self-awareness and begin to view situations on the road differently. They feel more comfortable using safe driving practices and can quickly improve their driving performance.
DriveReady Advantage Based on Proven Techniques
Driving Dynamics developed the DriveReady Advantage program based on the proven techniques in the company’s SEE The Advantage concept. It’s based around data from hundreds of thousands of crashes showing that most of them could have been avoided if drivers just had one more second to react and knew what to do with that additional second.
Drivers who have taken the course report that it has changed how they approach driving. They also said it’s different from what is offered by other companies or even what they expected. “I loved this class,” a driver who recently took the course said. “It kept me engaged the entire time. The instructors were truly a pleasure to listen to and helpful. Smart, very streamlined and organized.”
Another said the classes allowed other drivers to share experiences, something they found very useful. He also said the course focuses on not taking things for granted and “maintaining concentration and avoiding easy distractions.”
DriveReady Advantage offers students the benefit of decades of knowledge from experts in the field of improving driver performance. It also gives a strong return on investment for fleet managers who want to lower the risk of crashes and give their drivers the best possible chance of ending their work day safely.
